Reports To:  Head Golf Professional

Position Purpose:  As a member of the Golf Management Team the Assistant Golf Professional supports daily operations of the golf shop, guest service, and coordinates with the Head Golf Professional to provide first class service to each guest.  This includes meeting or exceeding our established standards for the guest experience and sales and financial goals.  As an integral member of the team you must lead by example, taking a proactive position in all issues concerning the golf shop and guest services.  Additional duties may be assigned as required.

General Description of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic interaction with guests and staff.
  • Works closely with Head Golf Professional on exceeding expectations of resort guests, providing direction/management of staff, assist and administer golf instruction programs, enforcing course policies, assisting with tournament operations, supporting retail operations, and assist with developing and implementing marketing plans.
  • Assists in hiring and training the most qualified personnel available, which benefit the overall success of the club. 
  • Assist guests as they check in for their tee times and maintain a properly functioning tee sheet at all times.
  • Assist with pace of play monitoring.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts (opening/closing, holidays etc.)
  • Shall maintain open lines of communication and work closely with the Head Golf Professional on the performance of both the inside and outside staff through regular staff meetings and specific feedback.
  • Assist in monitoring daily revenues and expenses and makes recommendations to GM in a focused effort to help maximize the profitability of the club.
  • Support the Head Golf Professional and Merchandiser with daily and monthly merchandising needs such as complete product knowledge, ordering and displaying of merchandise, maintaining proper inventory levels, and keeping the golf shop in a clean and orderly manner at all times.
  • Responsible for the proper operation and appearance of the practice facility to insure an adequate supply of practice balls are available at all times.
  • Shall oversee the daily washing and cleanliness of cars and supervision of player service attendants.
  • Shall be available for meetings requested by management and provide professional advice and opinions which are deemed beneficial to the club. 
  • Shall work closely with the golf course superintendent and other departments in coordinating activities, which benefit the club.
  • Shall represent the club in various tournaments to promote good will and exposure for the club. 
  • Shall also represent the club in various other golf related functions, which would promote good community relations and exposure for the club.
  • Shall cooperate in performing any other duty deemed reasonable and necessary by the supervisor or management.

Experience/Education/Certification Requirements:
  • College education or its equivalent.
  • Active Class A PGA status or its equivalent.
  • Must be computer literate with accurate math and typing skills.
  • Must have valid drivers license.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. to waist height.
  • Some repetitive motion required including computer entry.
  • Frequent bending, turning, kneeling and stooping.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Normal vision and hearing ranges required.
  • Regular attendance and overtime required for scheduled shifts.

Hourly rate is factored off experience, higher education and PGA level or membership.
