Position:  Assistant Food & Beverage Manager (with Emphasis on Banquet Operations)

Reports To:  Food & Beverage Manager

Position Purpose:  Assists with managing the administrative and operational aspects of all food and beverage platforms across the property, with a particular focus on special events.  Directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the banquets department, thereby providing an atmosphere that exceeds our guests’ expectations.
General Description of Duties and Responsibilities
This position includes, but is not limited to, the duties and responsibilities noted below:
  • Ability to hire, train, motivate, organize, discipline, direct and supervise staff.
  • Responsible for scheduling and monitoring labor in an efficient, productive and profitable manner; responsible for call-in and substitution needs.
  • Leads shifts, coordinates functions with all staff involved and actively participates in the servicing of all stages of an event from setup-up to breakdown.
  • Responsible returning all facilities to clean, orderly and secured conditions.
  • Assists with developing policies, procedures, standards and training for food and beverage employees.
  • Assists with outlining and administering the service standards of the food and beverage department.
  • Ensures that all Food & Beverage employees provide our guests with friendly, courteous and timely service.
  • Ensures high customer satisfaction, quality service, and compliance with policies and procedures while meeting/exceeding financial goals.
  • Provides continuous service training for staff on all aspects of food and beverage service and guest service.
  • Support staff by being present on the floor and overseeing that the guests’ needs and expectations are met.
  • Able to work under pressure and problem solve quickly.

  • Understands all paperwork, cash bar procedures, and Banquet Event Orders.
  • Maintain the highest level of integrity with the company, customers and fellow employees; holding oneself, supervisors and co-workers to the highest standards.
  • Assists in projecting supply needs, such as linen ordering, and liquor and beverage ordering.
  • Ensures equipment and meeting space are in top condition.
  • Understands the impact of Banquet operations on the overall success of an event and manages activities to maximize customer satisfaction or resolve customer complaints.
  • Maintain knowledge of products and prices.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable health regulations and liquor laws and safety standards.
  • Understand and practice inventory and labor controls, time management and human resource management skills.
  • Accurately and punctually completes administrative work.
  • Represent the club in a professional and exemplary manner and promote the success of the club to guests and staff alike; setting an example in this regard.
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable and necessary
Experience/Education/Certification Requirements
  • Hospitality, Business Management or related field preferred.
  • One (1) year of banquet supervisory experience
  • 3 plus years of previous Banquet experience in hotel setting preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage operations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette; including cash handling skills.
  •  Must have local health and alcohol awareness certification. 
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Above average computer and math skills.

Working Conditions and Notes
  • Indoor and outdoor working environment.
  • Frequently exposed to inclement weather, potentially dangerous pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers; misdirected golf balls; sharp and rapid equipment movements, moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Sandia Golf Club functions 7 days a week.
  • It may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift(s) as business levels demand.
  • Business levels determine the number of hours employees work.
  • At times employees may be scheduled to work less than 40 hours a week, and other times may be scheduled to work more than 40 hours a week.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. to waist height.
  • Frequent bending, turning, kneeling and stooping.
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, environmental conditions, and fumes.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Repetitive motion required including computer entry.
  • Must be able to operate a golf cart and other equipment in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to fluently speak and write the English language.
