Historic North Carolina private club hosted Greater Greensboro Open from 1977 through 2007

GREENSBORO, N.C. — OB Sports Golf Management is proud to announce it has assumed club management duties for Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. The former host of the Greater Greensboro Open from 1977 through 2007, OB Sports will oversee all golf and club operations for the facility.

“We look forward to working with an iconic club with such a rich tradition,” said Phil Green, Chief Operating Officer of OB Sports.  “Our priority is to serve the outstanding membership at the club, and all of our guests, by bringing back the quality of Forest Oaks to its historic roots as a PGA TOUR tournament host for 30 years.”

“We are proud to welcome OB Sports to partner with Forest Oaks Country Club,” said General Manager Anthony Miller. “OB Sports has a proven track record of raising the bar at its facilities, and are known for creating “best in class” golf experiences, and we look forward to the results this partnership will create.”

Designed by noted architect Ellis Maples, Forest Oaks opened in 1962 to rave reviews. It was already known as one of the best tests in North Carolina, when it was rated as a favorite PGA Tour stop by players. As the golf course matured, alterations to the course were necessary, and in 2002 the job of restoring the course was assigned to Davis Love III’s Love Design Group.

Now playing 7,212 yards from the Championship tees, Forest Oaks has earned a reputation for having smooth greens and superb fairways. During this renovation, the fairways were re-sprigged with TifSport Bermuda grass, a strain that handles the extremes of summer heat and winter wetness better than the old local strains. As a result, the fairways are able to be cut lower and smoother than ever before. The greens were planted with a mix of A4 and A1 bentgrass, which offers a faster and truer surface than the old Penn Links variety.

OB Sports plans on updating menus at the Champions Grill restaurant with many delicious favorites, as well as adding fun events to the Active Members Event Calendar, including events for the whole family. The pool is also an important part of the club experience, and is now open for the membership to use and enjoy.

“OB Sports is committed to helping the Club restore its  premium conditions, as well as working with the Greensboro community to make Forest Oaks a destination for spectacular golf and special events,” said Green. “Forest Oaks will be open for limited non-member play. Starting times can only be booked online directly through the club at, using The Direct Advantage, that provides for the Best Rate Guaranteed and No Booking Fees.”
