Golf Course, Clubhouse, ‘Double R’ among exciting changes
, Ariz. — Mt. Graham Golf Club is proud to announce the completion of multiple amenity upgrades, providing Gila Valley residents with improved golf, dining and event options at the City of Safford-owned golf course.
“Mt. Graham Golf Club is making a renaissance of sorts, and we’ve already heard and seen such a positive reaction to the changes made,” said Phil Green, Chief Operating Officer and Principal of OB Sports. “I’m especially proud of these projects as a Safford native. OB Sports wanted to ‘Make Mt. Graham Great Again,’ and I believe we have taken the necessary steps to begin that journey.”
On the golf course, the maintenance team has taken a systemic approach to improve virtually all aspects. Golfers will notice the investments made in the irrigation system and the chemical and fertility plan. The team has also upgraded its equipment fleet and added personnel. The course also now has 30 new reliable golf cars for players to enjoy, complete with the new Mt. Graham Golf Club logo. League play is expected to pick up in the fall season, along with regularly-scheduled clinics for local junior golfers, and programs for golfers of all ages.
“This has been a true overhaul of the department, and the results have been staggering,” said Luke Beardmore, Senior Vice President of Agronomy at OB Sports. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the improvements to the golf course, and we are just getting started!”
In the golf shop, players and visitors will find a completely overhauled space. New fixtures now hold items from vendors like Adidas, Greg Norman, Cutter & Buck, Antigua, Nike and Under Armour. Much of the apparel features the new Mt. Graham Golf Club logo. Sports fans can also support local favorites like the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Coyotes and Arizona Diamondbacks, as well as the University of Arizona and Arizona State University.
Next door to the golf shop, the revamped Double R Grille, Bar and Patio is open daily from 10am to 6pm, with lunch service from 11am to 3pm, and Happy Hour from 3pm to close. Featuring wagon wheels, lassos, spurs and branding irons as part of its western-themed décor, patrons can saddle up to a fully-stocked bar, or mosey on over to a table or high-top for a meal. With seating for more than 100, the Double R is the Gila Valley’s newest meeting place. The Double R also serves as an affordable wedding and special events venue for Graham County residents.
“The excitement level at Mt. Graham Golf Club is at an all-time high,” said Green. “We invite everyone to see what the buzz is about for themselves.”
