POSITION:  STAFF ACCOUNTANT - BUFFALO GOLF MANAGEMENT

Reports To:               Controller
 
Position Purpose:     Responsible and accountable for supporting processes in the preparation and maintenance of financial information for multiple golf courses under management and other related accounting duties by performing the following duties; other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
 
General Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
This position description includes, but is not limited to, the duties and responsibilities noted below:
  • To provide accounting services with a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Preparation of sales tax returns for multiple entities.
  • Support data centralization and standardization initiative for dashboard reporting.
  • Reconcile bank statements as assigned
  • Assists with special projects, as necessary
  • Accounts Payable work with support from AP specialist including W-9 and 1099 maintenance
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as assigned
  • Post payroll journal entries for courses as assigned
  • Monthly roll of flash reports for certain golf courses as assigned
  • Support monthly compilation of financial statements
  • Maintain effective communications with all team members within the office to maintain a smooth, informed and consistent atmosphere with regards to office functions
  • Coach and mentor other members of accounting services team
  • Assists in monthly closings
  • Researches account payable discrepancies per requests of managers and supervisors.
  • Support budget and forecast related spreadsheet work and updates to forecast templates
  • Perform any reasonable tasks assigned by a manager

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, fractions, ratios and proportions.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Enjoys and seeks out opportunities to work with the operational side of business

Experience / Education / Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from college or technical school
  • Accounting – 2 years
  • Computer Skills-Excel/Word/Windows

Physical Requirements:
  • Must have the ability to give verbal and written instructions.
  • Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages, and to retrieve information from technical sources.
  • Must have the ability to supervise subordinates.
  • Must have the ability to fluently speak and write the English language
  • Must have the ability to visually inspect all workspaces
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally with all customers
 
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily Indoor working environment.  Some travel may be required
